Don't Mess With Texas.

My Dear Readers,

I understand that it has taken an unnecessary ammount of time to publish this blog post, but I've been quite busy! Besides running around with my Grandparents in Rockport, Texas; my Wisdom Teeth decided to drop in for an early rendezvous, and of course I have had the agonizing task of getting my photographs onto the site. Might I remind you, I'm still new at this.

Anyhow, last week I spent two cramped days in a car halfway across the United States, a glorious three days at my Grandparents House in Rockport, Texas, and another two days in a car dealing with an ear issue of some sort as well as molars which are quite too large for my face.

Rockport is absolutely beautiful. There are so many little businesses around town, such as "Rockport Donuts", "The Donut Palace", and my Grandpa's favorite; "Jalisco's". Bent and knarled, Live Oaks sway in the ocean breeze everywhere you turn. Tiny orange flowers called Paintbrushes smile in the midst of soft grass that you can sink your feet into; unlike the thin and rather scraggly stuff we have at home. While on the road, I was awestruck at how flat everything was, the sky seemed so much bigger without mountains and tall trees demanding attention.

Texas is spread out and diverse, sporting miles of marsh and rugged country in between concrete jungles. We gazed at large fields of long horns as well as sloping "Sphagetti Bowl" bridges. You could see dark streaks of rain on the distant horizon, entire bolts of lightning from the sky to the ground, and trains rumbling from engine to caboose. All in all, Texas is incredible. If you ever get the chance to visit, I suggest that you take it.

These were some downright cool bridges in Atlanta, Georgia.
Sphagetti Bowl Bridge!
If anyone has a clue to what a "Spoat Bah" is, please do comment...
A shoutout to the amazing people who read my blog, you all make my day! I was so happy to see that folks in Alaska had checked me out as well; I hope you guys like reading Adventures in Somnambulism as much as I love writing it. <3
Too-much-information Tankers, at your service.
Alabama loves her fireworks.
This colossal building claimed to be the largest Firework Store in the World, and I don't doubt it!
My handsome 12 year old puppy, Ted.
I was convinced these were the worlds largest Pineapples...
M-i-ssi-ssi-ppi; Mississippi!
Ted was letting me give him hugs...for a bit.
First thing that comes to mind? WATER (everywhere).
My brother insisted I take a picture of him doing this, he had a blast!
This lovely scene, my friends, was taken next to a Taco Bell Drive Thru.
I think I might have a bit of a bridge fettish.

Max and Ted, being adorable and smiling for once.
A gorgeous Huston sunset, three hours from Rockport.
We went to Kiko's Mexican Restaurant the first day before heading to the movies to see Jurasic World. This fantastic Paper mâché ghoul was hanging from the ceiling in one of the rooms!
We went to the beach the day after that;
Which was totally gorgeous.
Someone even found a shark! He or she had floated belly up, so after checking him or her out they drove it to the Aquarium in their cooler so he or she could get medical attention.
My first Ferry Ride! Max was terrified of drowning, so he stayed in the car while I watched porpoises.
I saw this on our way back to Rockport from our day at the beach and thought it was just stellar. What do you think?
My grandfather was trying not to smile in this picture, but I swear he really loves that dog! JR is a spoiled rotten Lhasa Opsa, or so the kitchen wall says.
Lookit that face! (Photo credit to Max)

When it was time to head back home, we stopped at Rockport Donuts one last time. I'm holding a cake one in this picture, which was delicious!
We stopped at Praseks Hilje Smokehouse as well, and Max (who had gotten a haircut) took a liking to a throne-like chair.
This next fish swam up to the glass and posed for me!

Our last hotel was right on the Mississippi River.

I apologize for being so late, but I hope that it was worth the wait! I love you all to the moon and back, thank you so much for just being totally awesome.

Yours,

         Madeline
